Day Leagues

Monday / Tuesday Open

The Monday/Tuesday Day League is an open league with space for up to forty (40) fixed teams. There are three draws on Mondays and 2 draws on Tuesdays: 9:00 am both days; 11:15 am both days; and 1:30 pm on Mondays. Schedules will alternate times and days and are set three times during the year (October, January and March) with some re-alignment of Divisions in January. A Brier playdown occurs in March. Fixed teams are established at the start of the curling season with new members added by the Convenor to fill existing short falls, and adjustments are made as necessary during the season.

Tuesday Day Mens

The Tuesday Day Mens League is a fixed team league with ten teams playing in one draw at 2:45 pm therefore two teams will have a bye each week. Fixed teams are established at the beginning of the curling season with new members added to fill any open spots on teams.

Wednesday Day Open

The Wednesday Day League is an open league with teams created by the League Convener. The teams are created in October, re-shuffled in January and again in late February. There are three draws each Wednesday at 9:00 am, 11:15 am and at 1:30 pm. Team start times will vary. This league is ideal for all curlers including those who are new to the sport or for curlers who find themselves unable to find a position in existing teams in fixed leagues. It is great way to introduce yourself to other members of the Club and work your way into other leagues.

Thursday Day Ladies

The Thursday Day Ladies League is a fixed team league with up to 18 teams playing in two draws at 10:00 am and 12:30 pm, with one team having a bye each week. Fixed teams are established at the start of the curling season with new members added to fill empty team positions.

Thursday Day Mens

The Thursday Day Mens League is a fixed team league with ten teams playing in one draw at 2:45 pm therefore two teams will have a bye each week. Fixed teams are established at the beginning of the curling season with new members added to fill any open spots on teams.

Friday Day Drop-In

Friday Morning curling is a Drop-in day league. Doors open at 8:30 am. Members arrive and let the Convenor know what position they would like to play and the Convenor attempts to accommodate requests and balance teams. Teams are announced at 8:50 am and play begins at 9:00 am. Only 32 curlers can be accommodated on a first come, first serve basis. Priority for play is given to members registered for the Friday Day league, but other league members can show up to spare in the event that positions need to be filled.

New Friday Open

This new league with an 11:15 am draw time, consists of 10 teams, with two teams having a bye each week. Unlike our Fixed Mixed leagues, teams in this new Open League can consist of any gender combination and any throwing order you prefer.

Night Leagues

Sunday Open

The Sunday Open League is a Fixed League with 18 teams playing in two draws. This is a mixed league with teams of any combination of men and women or all men or all women. The draws are at 4:30 pm and 7:00. pm There is one division with all teams playing each other through the course of the season with a mini play-off round at the end of the season.

Monday Night Ladies

The Monday Night Ladies League is a Fixed team league with up to 18 teams playing in 2 draws. The first draw is at 6:15 pm, the second at 8:30 pm. Fixed teams are established at the start of the curling season with new members added to fill existing short falls.

Tuesday Night Mens

The Tuesday Night Mens League runs weekly with up to 18 fixed teams with two draws at 6:15 pm and 8:30 pm. Teams are separated into A and B divisions and are scheduled in round robin play, with teams promoted or relegated at the end of each round. Each week one team from each division will receive a bye. Weekly schedules for A and B divisions rotate between early and late draws. An end of the season club championship playoff between two Tuesday Night Mens teams and two Thursday Night Mens teams determine the Club Mens Champions. Fixed teams are established at the start of the curling season with new members added to fill any open spots on teams.

Wednesday Open

The Wednesday Open League is a Fixed League with up to 18 teams playing in 2 draws. The first draw is at 6:15 pm, the second at 8:45, alternating each week. There are two divisions with teams being relegated and promoted after each round. Each week one team from each division will receive a bye. Fixed teams are established at the start of the curling season with new members added to fill any open spots on teams.

Thursday Night Mens

The Thursday Night Mens League runs weekly with up to 18 fixed teams with two draws at 6:15 pm and 8:30. Teams are separated into A and B divisions and are scheduled in round robin play, with teams promoted or relegated at the end of each round. Each week one team from each division will receive a bye. Weekend Leagues

New Friday / Saturday Open

Unlike our Fixed Mixed leagues, teams in this new Open League can consist of any gender combination and any throwing order you prefer. There is one game per week with the potential to play on any one of the following draw times: Fridays at 6:15 pm or 8:30 and Saturdays at 3:00 pm, 5:30 or 8:00 pm.

Fixed Mixed

The Fixed Mixed League is comprised of 32 teams of two women and two men with the women and men throwing alternate shots. There are four divisions of 8 teams each, with promotion and relegation from one division to the next at the end of each round. All new teams start out in the D division and progress from there. This league contains teams that have curled together for years as well as completely new teams that have never curled together before. There is a rolling schedule for this league with draw times being Fridays at 6:00 pm and 8:30 pm and Saturdays at 3:00 pm, 5:30 pm and 8:00 pm.

Saturday Mixed Doubles

The Mixed Doubles league accommodates up to 24 teams. It runs over eighteen Saturday mornings throughout the season and each match will consist of 8 ends, with game times at 08:30 am, 10:15 am and 12:00 pm. The league can have a maximum of 3 divisions of 8 teams, with two seven game rounds and a play-down schedule. The actual schedule and game times will depend on the number of teams that register.

Sunday U7 Adult Development League

Sundays, 11:45 am to 1:45 pm

The Navan Curling Club Sunday U7 Development League invites individuals who have curled 7 years or less to hone their skills with curlers of similar experience. Members are expected to have some experience on curling ice, preferably from a learn to curl program, from curling clinics (offered each fall at the club), or from prior years of curling. Optional strategy and skills development sessions will be scheduled at various times throughout the season.

Youth Curling Program

Our youth curling program aims to provide a safe and fun environment for interested youth aged 7 to 20, and is designed to help them understand and master the fundamentals of the sport. New curlers are welcomed at each level. Our experienced coaches will guide them through delivery drills, short games, teamwork and positions of play as well as strategy and curling etiquette. Throughout the season, there will be additional opportunities for interested players to participate in the various bonspiels hosted around Ottawa. The season runs from October to early April.
