Code of Conduct - Navan Curling Club

The following “Code of Conduct” outlines the Navan Curling Club’s expectations of all members. Each member should review these guidelines and abide by them at all times.

    1. Always treat your teammates, opponents and other members in the same manner that you would like to be treated. That means respect, dignity, and total sportsmanship at all times.

    2. Know the rules and abide by them.

    3. Play fairly and respect your opponents and your fellow teammates.

    4. Control your behavior. Verbal, physical, and racial abuse will not be tolerated.

    5. Do not take part in any form of bullying, either to an opposing player or to a player on your team. It is understood that bullying in any form, whether in person or electronically (any form of social media), will not be tolerated.

    6. Be humble and generous in victory and proud and dignified in defeat.

    7. Remember that a failure by the team is shared by all of the members and should not be blamed on individual members. Of course, successes are always shared.

    8. Have fun! Win or lose, try to enjoy every moment.

Members may submit a confidential concern either written or via email or to the Conduct Committee (ConductCommittee@navancurling.ca).  The Conduct Committee will investigate the concern and make recommendations for consideration by the Board of Directors.  Failure to follow either the letter or spirit of the Code of Conduct may result in actions taken including but not limited to increasing awareness, suspension of privileges, and/or expulsion from the club.  Decisions may be appealed by writing a letter in support of the appeal to the Board of Directors.

Injury Waiver

In consideration of acceptance of this registration by the club, I HEREBY RELEASE, WAIVE AND FOREVER DISCHARGE the club and each of its members, officers and employees FROM ANY AND ALL claims, demands, damages, costs, expenses, actions and cause of action, whether in law or equity in respect of death, injury, loss or damage to myself or property, arising or to arise by reason of my participation in the club excluding any negligent act, whether by omission or commission of any of the aforesaid persons, parties or entities.

Rowan's Law - Concussion Code of Conduct Acknowledgement

The Concussion Code of Conduct applies to all Club Members regardless of age, and includes Club Officials (Board of Directors, Club Manager, League Convenors and Coaches).
You must review the Navan Curling Club's Code of Conduct and the Awareness Resources.  They are found on the Club's website under the "Our Club+" menu tab in "Documents" titled "Concussion Safety", or by clicking here.

U-18 and Little Rocks - If you are registering your child for a Youth Program and that child is under 18 years of age, you must review the documentation with your child and provide a signed copy of the Navan Curling Club Rowan's Law Acknowledgement Form to the appropriate Youth Program Coordinator, (to be held on file by the Membership Director), before the child will be considered fully registered.

For all other registrants including the U-21 program, this online acknowledgement confirms you have read the Concussion Safety documentation.
I confirm that I have reviewed the Navan Curling Club’s Concussion Code of Conduct and the appropriate Concussion Awareness Resources and commit to operating within the parameters of the aforementioned Concussion Code of Conduct.

Membership Selection Instructions

1.  In the form below, please enter all team member names in the boxes where applicable for the fixed team leagues.  If you do not know all of the team member names, enter the word "assign".  Each member for leagues with fixed teams must submit their own registration form.

2.  Rules for Returning Members and Teams.  In accordance with the Policy Manual section 3.2, a returning member is defined as a member in good standing of the Navan Curling Club, registered as a Skip, Vice, Second or Lead returning to the Club in the year immediately following the previous curling season.  A returning team is defined as having at least the returning member associated with the team's name in the same league in the year immediately following the previous curling season and one returning member or three returning members in the same league in the year immediately following the previous curling season, irrespective of position played. Please review the policy manual for more details on registration rules.

3.  Shared Locker Fee option:  Select that option only if you are sharing a locker.  You also must enter the name of the other person in the "Other Information" section found immediately after the Discount Options below.  This will assist the manager in tracking who shares with who.

4.  New for this season, an adult U7 Development League:  This league is a development league for people with 7 years or less of curling experience.  This would include graduates of an ALTC (Adult Learn To Curl) Program, new curlers or regular Club members who wish to join.  There are no fixed teams, teams will be established at the start of each draw held on most Sundays from 11:45 to 13:45.

5.  Half Season Fall or Winter Membership - this membership type is only applicable to Day Leagues.

6.  Business Owners: The Club would like to gather a list of skills and professions of our members for the purpose of potentially using these services. Examples include:  accounting, web development, legal services, carpentry, etc.  If you own a business or have a skill that you would be willing to share with the Board of Directors, please list it in your "Update my Profile" section found under the "Member's Home" menu on the website.  Select the "Other" tab and enter your information there. Thank you.
